Before you quote: Hipobuy listings, sellers, Spreadsheet sites and agents
Choices made before the estimator decide most of the parcel: which item, from which seller, found on which kind of site, through which agent. Plain checks for each, and the cautions that save a return.
Judging a listing before ordering it
Judging a listing before you order comes down to a few habits. Read the whole page, not the first photo. Look for the seller’s own photos rather than catalogue images, a size chart in centimetres, the material, and a weight if one is given.
Prefer listings whose variants are clearly named; vague options lead to the wrong colour arriving. If the seller lists a box or gift packaging, expect it to add grams and volume to your parcel.
Search more than one listing for the same item. The price spread tells you something, and a far cheaper option is often a different product.

A cheap item can still make an expensive parcel
Consider a low-priced puffer jacket in a large protective package. Its price tells you little about international freight until you know the packing and the route’s weight rule. Compare seller measurements and construction first, then estimate shipping using a realistic range of packed dimensions. Treat the result as a budget check, not a promise of the final bill.
The first payment covers the item purchase and relevant local charges. The international stage follows warehouse receipt and your parcel choice. Leave room for conversion, payment handling, requested services and applicable destination charges. A crossed-out quote figure or a percentage badge cannot replace that full calculation. Compare equivalent inputs and identify which part of the bill a discount actually changes.
Seller signals on a marketplace listing
Good sellers leave traces: a shop that has existed for a while, steady sales on the item, recent reviews with buyer photos, and answers to questions. On Taobao and Tmall, look at the shop rating and how long it has been open; on Weidian, shops are often small and reviews sparse, so photos and replies matter more.
Warning signs include a price far below every comparable listing, stock photos copied across shops, and a seller who will not confirm a size or colour before you order.
You can ask Hipobuy’s buyer to contact the seller through the order message box. Questions asked before purchase cost nothing; questions after shipping cost time.

Testing a Spreadsheet site, this one included
When choosing a spreadsheet site, look for proof you can test yourself; these sites differ more than their front pages suggest. A useful one tells you when it was last checked, keeps its links working, says who runs it and how it earns money, and avoids presenting guesses as facts.
Apply that test to us as well. This site dates every figure, names the field it comes from, marks what Hipobuy has not stated, and discloses that sign-up links carry our invite code. If a page here goes stale, the date shows it.
Be wary of sites that promise “best” or “cheapest” without a date or a method, or that hide who operates them.

Pages that make an agent checkable
Choosing a trustworthy agent is less about slogans than about pages you can read. Look for a written fee formula, a public estimator, inspection rules that say what is not checked, a storage policy with a day count, and terms that name the operating companies.
Hipobuy publishes all five, which is why a site like this one can exist. Where its pages disagree with each other, or stay silent, we say so rather than smoothing it over.
Whatever agent you use, test it with a small first order, keep screenshots of every figure you agree to, and read the terms on counterfeit goods: Hipobuy’s forbid them and allow it to withhold funds.

Agents besides Hipobuy
Hipobuy is one of many agents that buy from Chinese marketplaces and forward the goods abroad. Others you will see mentioned include Superbuy, CSSBuy, Sugargoo, Kakobuy and Oopbuy. They follow the same broad pattern of item order, warehouse, parcel and settlement.
Their estimators differ in what they print. Some show one price, some show a discounted and an original figure, and the exchange rates they use for display differ too. Comparing agents fairly means comparing the same weight, size, destination and date, and asking each what its figure includes.
We do not rank agents. Our pages cover Hipobuy only.

Mistakes to avoid before you pay
Mistakes that cost the most are usually small and early:
- Pricing one item on the estimator when you will send five.
- Leaving dimensions blank on lines that charge by volume.
- Reading the bold figure without noting the date and the struck figure.
- Splitting goods into many parcels, paying the per-parcel fuel and Operating Cost each time.
- Ordering goods that your line, or your country, will not accept.
- Waiting too long to raise a QC problem, past the return window.

Each one is avoidable with a note and five minutes on the estimator before you pay for anything.
