Hipobuy QC photos and shipping lines, read from the quote side

Which parts of an item the warehouse inspects and photographs, a routine for reading QC photos yourself, and what the line list on a quote tells you about speed, tax labels and limits.

What Hipobuy’s QC covers

Quality check, or QC, at Hipobuy means a warehouse inspection of each item when it arrives. Hipobuy’s inspection rules say it verifies quantity, colour, size and other specifications, then removes the express box and repacks the item in a Hipobuy self-sealing bag.

The same rules name what falls outside the check: slight shade differences, small sizing errors and how an item performs in use; whether electrical and digital goods work, which model they are and whether accessories are complete; and anything behind a factory seal, as with sealed music discs, handmade pieces and adult products, which are only looked at from outside.

QC happens before any parcel exists, so it has no line on a shipping quote. It matters to the quote because a returned item never ships.

Free inspection photos and the paid extra kind

Regular inspection photos are “generally three”, in Hipobuy’s words: front, back, and side or logo. Note the word generally; it is a habit, not a guaranteed count.

If you want a seam, a label or a measurement shown, Hipobuy sells custom photos at CNY 1.00 each, taken from the angles you request. Hipobuy describes these as high-definition, unlike the ordinary regular photos.

Those extra photos are one of the few small costs that land on the item side rather than the parcel side, so they never show up on a shipping quote.

Reading QC photos yourself

Reading QC photos well is mostly about comparing them with your order, slowly:

  • Count the pieces and check each colour against the variant you chose.
  • Find the size label in the photos; ask for a custom photo if it is missing.
  • Look for stains, pulls, loose threads, scuffs and bent hardware, at full size, not as thumbnails.
  • Compare shape and proportions with the listing photos, allowing for lighting.
  • For shoes and bags, check pairs match and straps, zips and soles are complete.
  • If something looks wrong, contact support while the item is still in the warehouse, within Hipobuy’s return window.

A return is far cheaper before the item joins a parcel than after it crosses a border.

Use the photo to make a decision, not just to collect an image

Check the received product against the saved order in a repeatable sequence: item and count, variant label, overall condition, then one or two details that would change your decision. For clothing, a specified measurement is more informative than the size letter alone. Ask for that view while the item is still eligible for a seller-supported remedy.

Do not infer authenticity, exact colour under all lighting or complete electrical function from ordinary photos. If an issue is visible, attach the relevant image and explain the difference to the buying agent before packing. Once it is resolved, compare shipping for the real stored items. Removing packaging, adding protection or combining orders can alter the charge and the practical return options.

What the line list tells you

On a quote, the list of lines is the shipping menu. For our 1,000 g test parcel it ran from 9 usable lines to the United States to 22 to Italy. Each line has its own mode (air, land or both), its own day range, a tax label and a weighing rule.

The day range is an estimate by Hipobuy’s own wording, and the tax label is the operator’s description of who handles duties. The label set we saw on 90 lines was Tax free, Duties Payable by Recipient and Prepaid Duty; local rules decide what you actually owe, and some countries changed theirs in 2026.

Hipobuy separates lines it operates closely from lines run by logistics providers that join its platform; for problems on the second kind, compensation follows the provider’s standard. The card does not say which kind a line is.

Product types, limits and customs

Choose a product type on the form and the list usually shrinks, because many lines refuse batteries, liquids, powders or certain accessories. Hipobuy’s estimator FAQ sets a ceiling for cosmetics it will try to send: no more than 100 ml in any one item and 200 ml across the whole parcel.

Hipobuy’s customs page puts the risk of a returned parcel, a fine or a tax bill on the buyer. Its threshold table still listed the United States at 800 USD when we read it, a figure that no longer reflects US practice; treat that table as out of date.

In short: pick the product type honestly, read the Show More product grid for your line, and check your own country’s customs pages for anything the label does not settle.
